Directions: FROM THE NORTH EAST: Stay on the A69 as far as Brampton, then at the roundabout on the bypass, go straight across onto the A689, signed amongst other things, Carlisle Airport (with an aeroplane logo) and the M6 motorway. The A69 turns left at this roundabout - don't do that! 6.3 miles on there is a smaller roundabout, turn right towards the M6 motorway - 2 miles further you come to the big roundabout that is above the motorway. Go virtually all the way round, taking the A7, signed amongst other things, Longtown and Galashiels. Go for 2 miles and then look on the left for a church with a steeple. At the church, the left turn is signed Newtown - turn left here. 1½ miles and there is a T-junction where you can't go any further. Turn right and immediately (20 yards) left down Blackdyke Farm's drive. It is less than 10 minutes from the M6 motorway roundabout. FROM THE M6 MOTORWAY (The South)/A74 (The North): Come off at junction 44, which is the northernmost of the three Carlisle interchanges. Do not be tempted to come off at junction 42 or 43. The roundabout off junction 44 is on top of the motorway. Look for the A7 exit, signed amongst other things, Longtown and Galashiels, then see above. FROM YORKSHIRE: Use the A66 and join the M6 at Penrith, junction 40 and travel north to junction 44, then see above. FROM THE BORDERS: Travelling down the A7, go through Longtown towards Carlisle and then after about 4 miles look on the right for a church with a steeple, then see above.
